HOTEL - City of London Club
Product: Smartlock InDoor
Location: London
Amidst the towering steel spires in the heart of the city nestles its oldest club, the City of London Club. Since 1832, important city figures such as the Duke of Wellington, Sir Robert Peel and Members of Rothschild family, have all used the Club to relax in comfortable and elegant surroundings. Now fully refurbished the club’s Grade II listed building project involved the conversion of the existing accommodation to create twenty individual bespoke bedroom suites.
By using the Indoor Smartlock system, the client’s team was able to selected the same door furniture and fittings throughout the project but give a modern access control system which houses the electronics in the mortice of the door, with a small light pipe as the reader creating a virtually concealed system. The Smartlock uses a 72mm centres lock case which although is not a legal requirement of BS 8300 but goes beyond the minimum requirement for accessibility, as this Code of Practice is becoming more important as the UK becomes more aware of the need to make buildings more inclusive.
The ASL951B1 Smartlock Indoor unit uses a Windows based software which is on the client’s system in the reception area. The standalone system has been set up with cards issued to the members and staff giving access to areas and doors, however the system is flexible enough that hubs can easily be installed so that a wireless network system can be used to give the client real time cancellation and logging.
The comments received from the client and members have been entirely positive about the quality of the final product and the new bedrooms have added immeasurably to the enjoyment of the building.
