Kevin O Reilly Awarded IAI Fellowship Award
At the Institute of Architectural Ironmongery Awards Evening held at the Hallmark Hotel, Gloucester on Saturday 7th March, Kevin O’Reilly, Operations and Technical Director for Securefast was awarded the IAI Fellowship Award, which was presented by Debbie Cannon, the IAI Chairperson.
The IAI Fellowship Award is given to an individual who has shown a longstanding and ongoing commitment to the IAI over at least 10 years, and who is still actively involved within the industry and Institute.
Kevin is a RegAI and regularly has attended the Midlands IAI meetings each month since qualifying as a DipGAI 21 years ago and over this period of time he has been and is still currently a member of the DHF Technical Committee and the GAI Education Committee. Since qualifying Kevin has lectured to 2nd year students for the Guild on panic & emergency exit hardware, carried out CPD’s for the IAI meetings, help set and mark exam and coursework papers and is currently heavily involved with the Guild Education in upgrading the modules to help increase the knowledge in Access Control and Electrical Hardware for students and members.
Having spent all his working life in manufacturing, Kevin has a vast knowledge of Standards for Electrical and Mechanical Security Products, Panic Hardware and Door Furniture. He has been involved in a number of new standards that have been introduced over the past few years to improve the quality of products on the market including BS8607 for digital locks, TS007 for security cylinders and TS010 for electro-magnetic locks, as well as sat on a number of sub-group committees.
